On October 14, 2023, New Mexico had a special event – a solar eclipse. This amazing thing happens when the moon goes in front of the sun and makes it hard to see or completely blocks it. Eclipses have interested people for a very long time, and each one is different. The solar eclipse in 2023 was no different, and it caught the attention of people who love the sky and those who were curious from all over the world.

The Path of Totality is a route where the moon completely covers the sun during a solar eclipse.

New Mexico experienced a partial eclipse where the sun was partially covered by the moon. In the          path of totality, the sun is completely covered, resulting in a strange twilight-like atmosphere. Even          outside this path, the sun is partially blocked, causing the daylight to dim noticeably.

Getting ready and looking forward to something.

People got ready for the eclipse by studying when and where it would happen. They were told to wear special glasses to protect their eyes when watching the partial eclipse. Many people who love astronomy planned ahead to make sure they could see the eclipse from a good spot.

As the day got closer, people felt more and more excited and eager. Social media was full of conversations about the eclipse, and communities planned events to watch it together.

The Eclipse Day:-

On the day of the eclipse, there was a feeling of awe and excitement in the air. People came together at different places in New Mexico, looking for the best spots to watch the eclipse. Parks, observatories, and open fields were crowded with people.

Watching the Partial Eclipse:-

As the moon started moving in front of the sun, the people watching became more and more excited. They were given special glasses to protect their eyes and they looked up at the sky. The moon slowly moved across the sun, making it look like the sun was getting smaller. The people watching were amazed by the changing shapes and shadows as the moon covered part of the sun.

The Light and Atmosphere are constantly changing:-

One fascinating thing about a solar eclipse is how the light and atmosphere change. When the moon covered more of the sun, the sky got darker, giving off a strange and otherworldly feeling. The temperature also went down a bit, and animals responded to the different light, making the whole experience even more mystical.

Reaching Totality:-

In New Mexico, there was a partial eclipse, but some places in the state were near enough to the path of totality to see the sun become significantly dimmer. In those lucky spots, when the moon completely covered the sun, there were a few minutes of totality. During this time, it briefly turned dark like night, creating a captivating moment.

Totality is a very special and extraordinary event. It is when we can see the sun’s corona, a beautiful and delicate layer of shining light. The crowd was amazed and excited as they watched this amazing show in the sky, where they could see the sun’s outer atmosphere.

As the eclipse continued and finally finished, a feeling of amazement and curiosity remained in the atmosphere. People talked about what they had witnessed, exchanged pictures, and admired the stunning beauty of nature.
